The New York Hedge Fund Roundtable is run by an eleven person Steering Committee, which was formed in January 2007. This upgraded the management of the organization following four years in which Stanley Goldstein ran the Roundtable by himself.

Timothy Selby Timothy P. Selby, President

Tim Selby is a partner at Alston & Bird and serves as the current president of The New York Hedge Fund Roundtable.  His legal practice focuses on advising clients with respect to the structuring, formation and management of hedge funds, managed futures funds, and private equity funds. In addition, he provides regulatory and compliance advice to investment advisers, commodity trading advisors, and commodity pool operators.  He also serves as Chair of the Committee on Futures and Derivatives Regulation of the New York City Bar Association, a member of the Lawyers Advisory Forum of the Managed Funds Association and is licensed as a CPA. He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business where he is recognized for his expertise in the hedge fund and managed futures sectors.

In 1964 Stanley Goldstein founded Stanley Goldstein & Company, which eventually became Goldstein, Golub Kessler & Co., CPA's. The firm grew to 125 people under his leadership. After retiring from accounting, Stanley conducted an informal investment banking practice, which now focuses on financial services. Among his dozen activities are consulting to Gerson Lehrman Group, Quadriserv, Inc., The Manhattan Institute, and managing The New York Hedge Fund Roundtable.

Carol Van Atten Carol Van Atten

Charles Hayden Foundation, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney GIFT

Carol Van Atten has been working in the nonprofit world for over twenty years. Currently she is the Vice President for Programs at the Charles Hayden Foundation in New York. The Foundation focuses on the development of children and youth in the New York and Boston metropolitan areas. Her responsibilities include establishing grant strategies and overseeing grantee progress within an annual portfolio of $17 million. Carol also serves as Chair of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Global Impact Funding Trust and is a Member of the Corporation of the New York Botanical Garden. She has served on the Allocations Committee for the New York Women’s Foundation. Carol received her AB in Economics from Vassar College and JD from Brooklyn Law School.

Tim Sledge is a research analyst covering the financial services sector in the Large Cap U.S. Equity Fund at Bessemer Trust. Prior to joining Bessemer in June 2005, Tim was a research associate at Sanford C. Bernstein covering life insurance companies. He was also employed at Davis Advisors, Robert R. Meredith & Co. and BlackRock. Tim holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

David Toomey David Toomey

David Toomey is an attorney with ten of years of experience in the US Congress where he served as a legislative director for a member of the House of Representatives, as well as a legislative aide for two other members of the House of Representatives and a US Senator. He covered a wide range of issues, including energy, financial services, health care and telecommunications. After leaving Captiol Hill, Mr. Toomey was a Director of Government Relations for HIP Health Plans and a consultant for National Democratic Institute in Kosovo, where he worked with the legislature of Kosovo. He has also served on several congressional and presidential campaigns.

Marc Schneider is a Senior Vice President of the Avenue Europe Funds based in New York. In such capacity, he is responsible for identifying, analyzing and modeling investment opportunities in Europe. Prior to joining Avenue, Marc was a Director at Salomon Smith Barney in the Investment Banking Department. Previously he practiced corporate law at Cravath Swaine & Moore and Stroock & Stroock & Lavan.

Sheldon Hirshon is a senior member of Proskauer Rose LLP's Corporate Department. With over 30 years of experience as a corporate and transactional attorney, Shelly has developed a broad-based practice encompassing complex domestic and international matters. As a result, his experience covers a diverse array of matters involving corporate governance, general corporate transactional matters, bio-tech start-ups, restructures, and corporate finance. He has advised clients in numerous industries including hedge and private equity funds, insurance, apparel, entertainment, lodging and travel, real estate, consumer goods, retail, financial services and electronics He is also actively involved in non-profit matters as a founder of or advisor to New York Cares, Youth America Grand Prix, the Motorcycle Association of New York State, Leave Out Violence, and other non-profits.

Ben Plantan Ben Plantan

Ben Plantan oversees strategic marketing and business development for the four New York City metropolitan offices of JH Cohn LLP.  Prior to joining JH Cohn, Ben provided major Korean corporations with strategic consulting services at both International Services Group and Booz-Allen & Hamilton. Ben also spent four years in Washington, DC at CGI Group where he was a process redesign and financial systems consultant to a number of major government agencies. Ben is currently Co-Director for the New York City chapter of Drishtipat, a nonprofit working for human rights and development in Bangladesh. Ben earned his BA from the University of Pennsylvania as a triple major in International Relations, Economics, and Korean Studies.

Naomi McMahon Naomi McMahon

Naomi McMahon is Executive Dirctor of The VIA Group, an independent, full-service advertising and maketing agency. In this role, Naomi oversees new business opportunities for VIA, and assists companies with producing effective marketing, branding and advertising strategies for growth.  Prior to joining VIA, Naomi provided strategic marketing and business development consultancy services for leading-edge Irish technology companies at Enterprise Ireland.  Naomi is actively involved with many not-for-profit organizations including GOAL USA, Trinity Foundation and YWCA-NYC. Naomi received her Bachelor degree in International Marketing and Strategic Management from Trinity college Dublin.

Gabrielle Guttman is President of connext consulting inc., a consultancy that employs an integrated and customized approach to successfully elevate businesses to the next level through strategic introductions, business development, marketing and public/investor relations.  Prior to founding connext consulting inc., Gabrielle was Vice President of Business Development & Marketing for Southridge LLC. At Southridge, Gabrielle was responsible for hedge fund marketing, public/investor relations and marketing financial products to global public companies.  She previously held Business Development and Marketing roles at Kroll Inc. and Grey Group Inc.  Gabrielle's financial career began at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. as a Corporate Finance Analyst where she helped execute equity, debt and M&A transactions across a wide range of industries.

Gabrielle graduated Magna Cum Laude from Barnard College, Columbia University.  Since 2003 she has held Board and Advisory positions with Barnard Business and Professional Women, a not-for-profit alumnae organization.  Throughout her career, Gabrielle has been an active volunteer and currently holds leadership positions with notable not-for-profit and philanthropic organizations focused on the financial services industry, women's initiatives and children's development.

Prior to his current role, Young was the General Counsel of Principled Capital Management and the Chief Legal Officer of Oppenheimer Capital. Young received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from Cornell University. Young is a CFA charterholder and licensed to practice law in New York.
