Our September Roundtable will feature Pete Dawkins, former Heisman Trophy winner, Rhodes Scholar, U.S. Army Brigadier General and Republican Candidate for Senate. Pete is also the former vice chairman of Citigroup Private Bank and is currently a founding partner of an alternative investment management firm, Flintlock Capital Asset Management. Mr. Dawkins is an experienced financial services professional with more than 25 years in the financial services industry; yet he is a relative newcomer to the hedge fund industry. Pete will relate his life experiences and share his insight on issues important to financial services professionals in general, including such topics as: the importance of performance; the need for integrity in the financial services industry; the importance of and nuances in dealing with foreign Investors (specifically, sovereign funds in the Middle East); and, in growing a business, is “bigness” a blessing or a curse?

As Director of Absolute Return Strategies, Mr. Carey is responsible for the risk, return and overall management of the ARS portfolio. The portfolio consists of approximately 50 direct investments in hedge funds across various strategies. He will discuss how he evaluates prospective managers and makes recommendations for the NYSCRF. Mr. Carey will also offer his perspective on the future of the hedge fund industry.

Byron has been a thought leader on Wall Street for many years. He joined Blackstone in August last year, but is well known as the former Chief Investment Strategist at Pequot Capital and long-serving Chief US Investment Strategist at Morgan Stanley.

Bob Wiedemer, a partner at The Foresight Group, will be returning to our Roundtable in January to present his new book, Aftershock: Protect Yourself and Profit in the Next Global Financial Meltdown, which he co-authored with David Wiedemer and Cindy Spitzer. Bob’s last book and presentation, America’s Bubble Economy, was well received by our Roundtable last year. We look forward to his new insights.
